About the Client:
The University of South Australia (UniSA) is a public research university in the Australian state of South Australia. It is a founding member of the Australian Technology Network of universities, and is the largest university in South Australia with almost 32,000 students.
For the past 5 years, the IT management of UniSA was manually developing highly sophisticated non-routine analysis and transformation of Enterprise Asset (Data) to demonstrate the utilisation of ICT resources across multiple campuses. This work required a lot of time and effort. We were invited by UniSA to analyse the challenges and built a custom web application to automate these complex reports.
We conducted discovery workshops to understand the user needs and to analyse different related data sets. It became evident that the data under consideration is complex and difficult. Problems with this data included non-routine analytical challenges, large size of the SQL data (~110 million data records) and its complex structures.
Visualisation of data was used to demonstrate the complexity involved in making this Enterprise Asset (Data) discoverable. Using the visualisations, we empowered the client to make the right choices to produce high quality results within the project constraints. For the data analysis we used a number of tools to visualise the technical constraints and identify the controlling factors associated with the project
We developed a custom web application to seamlessly integrate data from multiple data sources. With the help of this new application, the collected data is transformed into meaningful data sets. By utilising best of our experience, we developed an intuitive user interface to make the data visual and usable to the user.
In collaboration with our client, project constraints and technical constraints were well tackled in the course action of data integration and custom web application development. The final outcome made the previously complex and inaccessible Enterprise Asset (Data) accessible and useable to stakeholders.
